Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Manager to lead all engineering functions across the organization. This role focuses on driving operational excellence, supporting quality initiatives, managing production operations, and optimizing facilities and ERP infrastructure. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers to deliver innovative solutions that align with strategic business objectives.

As the engineering leader, you will oversee areas such as design engineering, product/process development, New Product Introduction (NPI), CNC programming, and cost estimation. You will also share leadership responsibilities for the CNC machine shop with the CNC Technical Specialist and play a significant role in the company's Continuous Improvement (CI) program to enhance efficiency and organizational effectiveness.


Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

  • Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives to achieve annual and long-term business goals.
  • Oversee tooling, die, and process design, including 3D CAD die design and forging simulations.
  • Manage cost estimation processes to ensure accurate and timely quoting.
  • Lead change management efforts, including specification updates and product documentation revisions.
  • Perform engineering contract reviews and provide technical support to suppliers and customers.
  • Manage and maintain MRP-specific features, including BOMs, processes, and work orders for standardization and accuracy.
  • Partner with the Quality Manager to lead Material Review Board (MRB) and Corrective Action Request (CAR) processes while addressing root causes and implementing solutions.
  • Drive process control improvements across all manufacturing functions.

Process Improvement

  • Redesign production processes to reduce costs, improve quality, and optimize efficiency.
  • Lead CI efforts, including implementing a 6S program and expanding CI tools/methodologies.
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement improvement opportunities, tracking progress via Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Enhance costing standards, MRP processes, and resource planning for operational excellence.

CNC Machine Shop and Resource Management

  • Co-lead the CNC machine shop with the CNC Technical Specialist.
  • Supervise machinists and manage resource allocation and production schedules to ensure quality and delivery targets.
  • Work with the Production Control Manager on make-or-buy decisions to improve efficiency.
  • Optimize CNC programming efforts and streamline workflows.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage the engineering team, including recruitment, training, performance reviews, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and mentor the team to achieve professional and organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (required).
  • 5+ years of management experience in technical or manufacturing roles.
  • Expertise in metals processing and aerospace manufacturing (preferred).
  • Experience with closed-die forging and simulation tools like DEFORM 2D/3D (preferred).
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design (Catia V5 preferred) and advanced tooling design.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems for BOMs, routing, and resource planning.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong track record in leading Continuous Improvement initiatives using 6S and LEAN methodologies.
  • Ability to manage programs and projects with measurable outcomes.
  • Advanced analytical skills and proficiency with Excel (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proven ability to drive technical innovation and strategic planning.

  • Familiarity with engineering facilities (preferred).
